This Directory was started in 2006 and by the end of 2009 it contained over 3,000 entries However, many of the tools have come and gone, and others have changed, adding more features and becoming more integrated. The Directory underwent a complete overhaul in January 2010 and has been re-organised into the following 12 categories.

NOTE: The Tools in this Directory enable and support all kinds of "learning": not just formal structured learning but also personal learning, group learning and intra-organisational learning
